Annual Blood Drive
There are many ways to save lives and support the community. Donating the gift of blood is a valuable way in which UHA associates give back to our community. As a corporate sponsor since 2004, UHA scheduled 5 Blood Drives in 2009, with 17 associates donating 46 pints of blood. In 2010, UHA is scheduled to sponsor 5 more Blood Drives. 17th Annual Oahu Start! Heart Walk

UHA is proud to sponsor the 2010 Oahu Heart Walk, organized by the American Heart Association.
Cardiovascular diseases are America’s number one killer and a leading cause of disability. UHA promotes lowering cardiovascular disease risks in our own company by promoting an increase in the amount and intensity of physical activity and eating a variety of healthy foods.
In addition to its corporate sponsorship of $10,000, various fund-raising events are scheduled by UHA associates through the month of July.

Hawaii State Department of Transportation
Adopt-A-Highway
July 1, 2008 - June 30, 2010
Adopt-A-Highway is a public service program for volunteers to pick up litter along Hawaii's state highways. It's a way for environmentally conscious citizens to make a personal contribution to a clean state while getting great exercise!
UHA committed to adopt Nimitz Highway for a two-year period, cleaning a two-mile stretch of the highway at least four times per year.

March of Dimes
2010 March of Babies Walk

UHA partnered with the March of Dimes as a statewide sponsor for the 2010 March of Babies Walk. Funds raised by this event go towards improving the health of babies by preventing birth defects, premature birth, and infant mortality. Make-A-Wish Foundation® of Hawaii
24th Annual April Foolish “Fun” Raiser-April 9, 2010
“Wishing on a star and hoping your wish comes true” is a dream for children, especially for those with life-threatening medical conditions. Make-A-Wish Foundation® of Hawaii, incorporated in1982, has fulfilled more than 750 wishes for Hawai’i keiki.

American Diabetes Association
2010 Diabetes Walk

According to the statistics from the American Diabetes Association,
23.6 million children and adults have diabetes in the United States. Type-two diabetes is a preventable disease.

Shriners Hospitals for Children
2009 Holiday Donations
Although supporting the community is a year-round commitment for UHA associates, the holiday season is always the most crucial time to share with the group who needs it the most, especially our children.
UHA associates personally donated over 150 children’s toys to the Shriners Hospitals for Children during the 2009 holiday period. The Honolulu Shriners Hospital provides state-of-the-art diagnosis and treatment for orthopedic problems, spinal cord and post-burn injuries, and cleft lip problems to more than 27,000 children.
