Message from the CEO
Last month UHA made a $5,000 donation to The Food Basket in support of the important work they do for the residents of Hawaii Island.

2018 has been an eventful year thus far. Hawaii was hit with many natural disasters from hurricanes, flooding, earthquakes and the volcanic eruptions. In particular, Hawaii Island was hit hard with the ongoing Kilauea volcanic eruption and flooding from rains brought by Hurricane Lane and Tropical Storm Olivia.
With all that's happened, and the holidays fast approaching, it's a good time to talk about practicing self-care to maintain your energy and well-being. The holidays are a busy time that can drain us of our energy if we don't practice self-care. Remember to take time for yourself to ensure you are taking care of your physical, mental, emotional and spiritual well-being. We need to ensure that these four areas are not compromised so that we remain at our best.
This November, the Hawai'i Health at Work Alliance will host its 3rd Annual Hawai'i Wellness Leaders Conference where keynote speaker Brad Stulberg, co-author of the book Peak Performance, will speak about "The Practice of Sustainable Peak Performance". He'll share these evidence-based principles:
- Stress + Rest = Growth and how this cycle applies to both individuals and organizations
- Priming and routine
- The science behind the power of purpose/mission and how to make it work for you
It'll be an exciting day filled with many new learning opportunities. I hope you'll join us to learn more about how you can avoid burnout and drive greater performance at work.
