UHA ‘Ohana Members Honored by American Lung Association and Pacific Business News

Honolulu, HI (May XX, 2019) – UHA Health Insurance is proud that prominent members of its ‘ohana have been recognized in recent weeks for their achievements.

Linda Kalahiki, UHA senior vice president and chief marketing officer, was recently honored with an American Lung Association Outstanding Mother Award for her service for being an exceptional role model to her children, while excelling in her career and philanthropic endeavors. She is a dedicated community volunteer who has donated her time to many organizations over the years, including the American Lung Association’s LUNG FORCE Hawai‘i Women’s Cabinet. She also chaired the LUNG FORCE Hawai‘i Walk in 2015 and 2016.

Pacific Business News, the prominent local business publication, announced Controller Del Mochizuki as one of its 2019 Forty Under 40. The publication noted that she “stewards the finances for a company that delivers quality healthcare coverage to 62,000 members statewide.” The 20th annual honor recognizes 40 individuals under the age of 40 who have made significant contributions to the local economy and community. The Forty Under 40 event will take place on June 7, 2019 at the Sheraton Waikiki.

On May 11, Employer Services Manager Sarah Hosaka received the title of 2019 Mrs. Hawai‘i Filipina. The pageant not only highlights the accomplishments and grace of extraordinary local women like Hosaka, it provides significant financial support to the United Filipino Council of Hawai‘i’s scholarship program. Originally from the Philippines, she is a member of the Filipino Chamber of Commerce, Filipino-American Multi Ethic Society and has served the local community in a variety of ways over the years.

  • Doreen Nakamura, UHA director of clinical care, received her Master of Business Administration in health care management from the University of Hawai‘i’s Shidler College of Business last May . She expects to complete her doctorate in nursing practice at the University of Hawai‘i School of Nursing this August.
  • Suzanne Eugenio, UHA’s marketing services manager, graduates on May 30 from the Patsy T. Mink Leadership Alliance as part of the program’s third cohort. This 10-month program is designed for emerging women leaders who are committed to personal growth, professional impact and community change. It further develops management and leadership skills in an effort to increase the representation of women executives in Hawai‘i.
  • Alanna Weaver, UHA contracting services supervisor, has been appointed board president of the Healthcare Financial Management Association (HFMA) Hawai‘i Chapter effective June 1. HFMA is a membership organization that brings together executives and financial managers from provider organizations, physician practices, and health plan markets to collaborate and address the many financial challenges the US healthcare system faces today.
