2023 Summer UHA Event Recap July 25, 2023 in Blog , Events by UHA Health Insurance Pearlridge Community Health Fair On August 12th, UHA participated in the Pearlridge Community Health Fair. UHA teamed up with Farrington High School student volunteers to connect with the community, check blood pressure and play some fun games. American Heart Association Heart Walk On August 5th, team UHA joined the American Heart Association’s Heart Walk. This year UHA sponsored the Keiki Zone and had some help from Farrington High School student volunteers. The proceeds raised go toward research, CPR training, and medical breakthroughs. Farrington High School’s Advanced Placement Program UHA Health Insurance donated $25,000 to Farrington High School’s Advanced Placement Program to reduce the cost of an AP test to only $20. A single AP exam costs $97 – and many students take more than one AP class in an academic year.The donation launches Farrington’s “College Bound” Program Fund, which supports initiatives that will encourage its students to potentially earn college credits and strive for higher education. Learn more American Diabetes Association Step Out Walk to Stop Diabetes Team UHA joined the American Diabetes Association’s Step Out Walk to Stop Diabetes. This annual event encourages participants to get up and get moving. The proceeds go toward research, advocacy and education on those living with diabetes. YMCA’s Healthy Kids Day Over 350 Keiki to Kupuna families participated in UHA’s Horseshoe Toss. UHA joined in on the family activities from swim, dance, fishing, Easter Egg making, etc. We captured the attention of 80-year-old Kupuna and family members who challenged each other to score the most points! 1st Annual Farrington High School Golf Tournament The 1st Annual Farrington High School Golf Tournament was held at Hawaii Prince Golf Club on March 23rd. UHA raised $550,000 for their Business Academy Scholarships. The Farrington High School Principals, Faculty, Students and Class of ’68 thanked us for giving them the opportunity to “Enter to learn, go forth to serve”! March of Dimes March for Babies March of Dimes’ March for Babies event aims to raise awareness, fund research, programs and advocacy to improve maternal and infant health across the nation. We were joined by Farrington High School volunteers to provide support and encourage walkers.
